Ellyeop Pyunjoo

Ellyeop Pyunjoo needs no introduction in the makkoli scene. Handed down 14 generations originating from the Joseon dynasty, the brewery was founded by scholar, philosopher Yi-ik. Sitting atop hilly terrains surrounded by forest and a river gorge, the makkoli they hand-produce exists on a different level. Ellyeop Pyunjoo is also known for being incredibly difficult to procure due to its limited quantity and popularity.
